Luis Gaitan

Luis Gaitan is a game designer, educator, and policy consultant exploring the intersection of technology, pedagogy, and ethics. As a Research Consultant at Boston College’s Morality Lab, he is interested in the cultural and ethical implications of preserving human memories and images through AI and XR technologies, with a focus on cross-cultural differences in memorial practices. He also researches how knowledge learned in virtual environments transfers to real-world contexts, and the cognitive processes of immersion applied to virtual environments.

Additionally, Luis holds an Ed.M. from Harvard University, where he led and developed workshops on AI pedagogies. He advises El Salvador’s Ministry of Education on AI integration and is the Lead Developer at August Interactive, creating games for veterans with PTSD. He is also a Research Affiliate at MIT Global Languages and a Visiting Researcher at Reitaku University, focusing on AI and XR for language learning and cross-cultural dialogue.
